Sfheartsgalveston.com  is a San Francisco Volunteer group assisting the Galveston African American Museum in its restoration from Hurricane Ike.

The first benefit was called “Love for the sake of Love”, which assisted in raising funds for the Galveston Island Juneteenth Parade.  The event was held on June 7th, at San Francisco’s Sub/Mission Art Gallery, with an afterparty at Beauty Bar.

This is an opportunity to give a small, yet powerful gift to a community healing from a natural disaster.

Last September, the Texas Gulf was hit hard by Hurricane Ike. Many homes and businesses were damaged or destroyed, and many of the inhabitants relocated to Houston, Austin, San Antonio, and other surrounding areas. The people of Galveston are still recovering from the hurricane and have been doing their best to rebuild their community. However, given the scale of the devastation, immediate assistance is still needed. To learn more about the Galveston community’s incredible recovery process click here.

We are a small group from San Francisco, CA, USA, working together to raise money and morale for Galveston. We’re starting small and need your help funding the 2009 Galveston Island Juneteenth Parade!

Donate Directly via Paypal:

Your donation goes directly to our friends at the Jack Johnson Foundation, a community outreach group working with the African American Museum of Galveston.  The Museum, which organizes the annual Juneteenth parade, receives 100% of your donation. (and you get 110% of our thanks!)
